They support the troops

The school board in San Francisco, the city that gave us Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has killed city schools' participation in Junior ROTC. Don't question their patriotism, though. They're just giving peace a chance: "We need to teach a curriculum of peace" said a former teacher; "We don't want the military ruining our civilian institutions. In a healthy democracy...you contain the military. You must contain the military," says Sandra Schwartz of the American Friends Service Committee, described as "an organization actively opposing JROTC nationwide. JROTC is "basically a branding program, or a recruiting program for the military."

God save us from these wack-nuts.

In a healthy democracy, you also contain the raving lunatics.

I'd like to see the federal government respond by withholding funding and services for that school district.

I understand that we need a strong military, but limiting the power and the reach of that military is being respobsible. With great power comes great responsiblility.
It's sad to me that someone can look at someone else who is promoting peace and call them a whack job

Hi BH, thanks for the comment. I'm not sure what you mean by "limiting the power and reach". This sounds fine, but does this mean the military should be unable to recruit? How can we have a strong military if it's banned from the public view?

"promoting peace" sounds nice, too. but when it comes at the expense of reality, that's a problem.

Thanks again for the comment. Hope you'll leave more.

Some people don't think they can pay for college so thats why they go to the military. JROTC could help prepare them better for whats really out there. Im not a supporter of war but when it comes to us being protected, i would want the right, trained people to be there.
