Historical Perspective
Courtesy of The Smoking Gun, we have an apparent memo from summer 1969 by Richard Nixon speechwriter William Safire to H.R. Haldeman with a speech prepared "In event of Moon Disaster," i.e., in the event Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were stranded on the moon. If nothing else it underscores the incredible risk associated with the space program and bravery of the men and women who are part of it. (H/T: Will from Penn State.)
