The Bush Doctrine, in the Shadow of a Rising China
VDH makes a cogent point: as China rises, the world will recognize and embrace America as a benign and moral, though also self-interested, power.
Taking the large historical perspective for a moment helps you appreciate the brilliance, and the necessity, of the Bush Doctrine. In future, dictators can turn to China for succor-- as is already happening in Uzbekistan. We have a window of opportunity to spread freedom.
