Thoughts on the IFC (Or: World Trade center bombed from air, and we still don't know what happened, four years later)

News item: International Freedom Center decides to discontinue its operations it if cannot implement its own vision of how to memorialize the World Trade Center mass murder and massacre of Sept 11, 2001, of 3000 civilians by Islamic religious psychopathic suicidists. This after a rising tide of criticism about the historical march of freedom and justice was alleged to be likely critical of America.
They have committed suicide, in sympathy with their friends, also targeting American accomplishments, rather than show off and preen across the street, or compromise their jihad. There is no obvious reason why their story could not be told somewhere else, except that they needed to be in your face to speak ill of the dead in the house of the dead. Elsewhere, alternatively, they are merely noise and noisome. The suicide was arranged by our own New York State Democratic-party Senator Clinton, our new Dr Kevorkian.
Senator Clinton, booed by the first responder survivors and their organizations, shortly after 9/11, finally opposed the Center, and the fatal cascade of negativity followed thereafter. Governor Pataki pulled the plug, and Mayor Bloomberg still expressed regret about the inability to work it out. You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows, senator.
This might be a New York Story; in Oklahoma City the site was cleared and a park built, in short order. At the Pentagon, the damage was repaired, a memorial created, and work continued. In Pennsylvania, however, a memorial in the shape of an arc, perhaps after the other Famous Arts debacle, Tilted Arc, in NYC’s Federal Plaza, the arc was realized to commemorate the Islamic crescent, and design recommenced.
But it also a national story.
At Ground Zero, across the street to the north, Larry Silverstein is finishing up at 7 World Trade Center, free from the ‘public interest’ of the Lower Manhattan Development (land confiscation) Corporation. But Ground Zero, four years later, longer than the interval from Pearl Harbor to Victory, we the heirs of our greatest generation parents and grandparents, have a hole in the ground.
At the time, when Bill Maher praised the courage of suicidists who were promised heavenly hymen-utopia, who then massacred unarmed civilians, and when Michael Moore complained that the religious psychopaths killed the *wrong* Americans, because New York voted for appeasement, it was clear, and I wrote at the time, that we did not know, after three thousand dead, and hundreds of billions in lost economy, what had happened.
Four years later, we still don’t know what happened.
From those who think we created our own doom by our imperial arrogance, to those who think Israel’s survival in Islamia and our support inevitable, understandably, and excusably, justified the slaughter of 3000 Americans, we have had a four year debate, and we still don’t know what happened.
Thus the liberals will die not knowing who killed them.
Thus the survivors whose ‘job’ it is to grieve and rebuild, are now diverted, perhaps a healthy or helpful distraction, and rededication of purpose, that ‘these dead shall not have died in vain,’ as it were, were for four eternal years diverted to preventing these deaths from becoming a footnote to lefto cultural revisionist imperialism.
Senator Clinton must have seen the recent Bob Dylan biopic, ‘you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows,’ the source of “weather underground, 1960s“ to read her polls and tea leaves, and oppose these lefto fascist distorters of history.
Wow, Senator Clinton, WeatherGirl, hey she grew up in Chicago, where the weatherman were center stage thirty five years ago.
So, we still don’t know what happened. At least down there in the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. Larry knows, and most New Yorkers just want to rebuild the two towers, taller and angrier and prouder and safer.
But the artsy-fartsy community wanted a beacon of light, a skeleton of hope, a deep pit of despair, a memorial to defeat and death, but not a beacon rallying cry to war and vengeance and anger and righteous wrath, and THAT is the failure of our understanding of what happened.
The Memorial should make you want to kill our enemies, not understand them, and only with a warrior’s memorial, for eternity, and a grievers’ memorial, for eternity, will we start to understand ‘What Happened.’
Helluva thing, Senator Clinton, Weather Girl, to take the lead. Heck, maybe she wants to be president or something.
The back story is that the memorial is seeking public funding, up to $500m in slush funds, and the ‘American Street’ (remember when the Arab Street was going to object?), wasn’t paying. So while in fascist countries folks vote with their feet, hereabouts we vote with our credit cards. Long Live freedom, the International Fiscal Freedom Center.
