Bush Won't "Say Uncle"

Nancy Pelosi thinks President Bush may "say Uncle" about "privatization," by which one assumes she means voluntary private accounts. Don't bank on it, Ms. Pelosi. Private accounts are the only way to "transform" Social Security from a pay-as-you-go redistribution system to anything that belongs in the "ownership society" envisioned by the President. But stay tuned (watch Bush's press conference via the White House website.)

UPDATE (10:03 p.m.) - I thought Bush did well. It sounds as though an eventual compromise might look at an exchange of means testing for private accounts, with all sorts of caveats. I wonder if this would be palatable for Democrats - both sides could claim victory.
