My girlfriend introduced me to one of her friends a couple of weeks ago. She's really funny and fun. We hit it off. She also happens to be gay. She also happens to be a Democrat. She also happens to be liberal. But we really got along. I liked her. She liked me too.

That is until she found out I was a Republican. The name-calling began immediately. She called me a fascist. She said I was ignorant. I tried to have a discussion over how I came to believe what I believed but that was impossible. She didn't want to hear it. In her eyes, I was now just a thing to be hated. I was just part of the "fascist" evil that was making terrorists around the world hate the United States even more and preventing her from getting married.

She later told my girlfriend that it was inconceivable to her that someone "like Chris" (ie. someone she had initially liked) could be a Republican. ...MORE

Of course, she has not expressed any interest in finding out how or why "someone like Chris" could be a Republican. But that is par for the course. I have found that most of the Democrats I come in contact with insulate themselves from all other perspectives that differ from those they already have decided are true. Any person that challenges these beliefs (myths?) is the enemy and must be destroyed at all costs.

With that in mind, it is no surprise that a "comedy skit" advocating murdering President Bush would have been aired the other day on AirAmerica, the liberal talk radio station. The United States Secret Service immediately started investigating the station. You see, broadcasting material advocating the assassination of the President is a federal crime and is taken very seriously. As it should be.

With the Feds on their case, AirAmerica released a statement stating, �We regret that a produced comedy bit that was in bad taste slipped through our normal vetting process�. The host of the show the skit aired on, Randi Rhodes, apologized directly to the President and the Secret Service, �If the bit was understood to be a threat against the president," I need to apologize to the president of the United States, and I do. I also need to apologize to the Secret Service [which] has a very, very serious job. �

But like the crew at AirAmerica, most the liberals and Democrats that I know, like my girlfriends� friend, would not have seen anything wrong with the skit and probably still don�t. They don't recognize Bush as President. Under the insulated protective blanket of their singular blue state mind - Bush is a terrorist, an idiot, a murderer, and a puppet. The sad fact is that more then a handful of Democrats are wishing both privately and out loud that someone would assassinate our wonderful President who has done so much good for this nation and the world. In fact, in many circles, hoping for the assassination of President Bush is considered the acceptable, fashionable, intelligent viewpoint to hold.

AirAmerica was only giving public voice to the same hateful comments that one can hear at just about every dinner party, coffee shop, restaurant, or movie theater line, in Manhattan.
