Senator Rick Santorum is trailing by 14 points in Pennsylvania for the 2006 Senate race. The Post-Gazette reports:
The widening of Casey's lead, from 46-41 percent in a Quinnipiac survey in February, comes on the heels of Santorum's high-profile advocacy of President Bush's Social Security overhaul plan.
A longer article will appear tomorrow, but will it mention the most important fact, namely that Casey, despite being a Democrat, opposes abortion? Obviously, since single-issue anti-abortion voters constitute much of the Republican base, a pro-life Democrat can pick up a lot of votes. (Hat tip: Andrew Sullivan.)
