Farenheit Flop

Byron York details why the Farenheit 911 fraud went well beyond the "documentary" itself:

Farenheit 911, far from being the runaway nationwide hit that Moore claimed, [the film] underperformed in dozens of markets throughout red states and, most important — as far as the presidential election was concerned — swing states.
...
Despite Moore’s PR campaign, the data, which the public did not see at the time, showed that Fahrenheit 9/11 had a very limited appeal. Moore’s claim that his documentary was a “red-state movie” was simply untrue, and all the articles based on its alleged national appeal were, in the end, just hype.

Of course, if we take the above quote, and michaelmoore it, we get: the runaway nationwide hit performed in dozens of markets throughout red states and, most important — as far as the presidential election was concerned — swing states....The data showed that Fahrenheit 9/11 had appeal. Moore’s claim that his documentary was a “red-state movie” was just [fade to black]. Or something like that, as long as you come away having reinforced something you already believed, which is that Farenheit 911 was a juggernaut that -- you bet! Karl Rove sweated -- almost defeated Bush.
