The Belmont Club picks up on Austin Bay's posting in which Bay argues the Sunnis' three recent attacks on Abu Ghirab reflect, more than anything else, desperation. To this Wretchard adds, "...historians in retrospect will understand the Iraqi insurgency was not something spontaneously ignited by outbreaks of looting in Baghdad in the aftermath of OIF, but a meeting engagement between two prepared forces. Iraq...was intended to be the graveyard of America's counteroffensive against terror. Instead the enemy dug the grave for themselves. What we are seeing now is not simply the rout of a few armed men, but terror's greatest defeat in modern times." MORE

In any event, it's apparent the left's "Iraq's 'chaos continues'" sing-song is little more than a fading verse in their Bush-hating chorus. (Metaphor anyone?). As for WP's report on the attacks, which KOS accepts without questions one AB commenter notes, "It’s the standard quagmire stuff - “The insurgents are developing new tactics! We’re doomed!” Give that man a blog!
